STUDENTS PLAN BLACKPOOL TRIP

Travel & Tourism students at The Sixth Form College, Solihull organised a fun-filled day out in Blackpool recently, as part of their A level coursework.

The trip, which was open to anyone in the College, was attended by 19 students and two staff, including the Principle Paul Ashdown, who joined in the spirit of fun by working out with a waxwork model of David Beckham at Blackpool’s Madam Tussards.

As well as the visit to Madam Tussards, the trip included a visit to the top of the world famous Blackpool Tower and a surprisingly frightening visit to the Tower Dungeons.

The students themselves organised the day trip, valuable experience for them in their course, which includes topics like customer service, long and short-haul travel destinations, tourism development, event management and guided tours.

Rajiv Ariaraj, Travel & Tourism teacher, commented: “Congratulations must go to all the students involved in organising this successful trip. There’s a lot to think about in making plans such as this, so the experience was a good learning experience for them and the end result was a lot of fun for them and for the staff.”
