Experiencing the real world!
EXCITEMENT flooded the product design students at Witchford Village College (WVC) after having the chance to sell their hand made goods. At an evening specifically designed for the occasion, parents and friends of pupils bought items made by WVC students.
Items such as surf jewellery, ski hats, recipe books and lightshades were on sale at the Product Design Show. Not only this but freshly made cookies were on sale and disappeared within the first 20 minutes! Students were present, promoting their work and answering any questions that were asked.
Last Thursday, Year 7, 8 and 9 students from WVC anxiously awaited the Product Design show, of which all their lessons had been leading up to for 18 weeks. The opportunity was for the students to experience how the real world works, instead of just taking home their items.
Two parents who attended the show told WVC’s Press Club that “the items were much more original and professional than we expected” and that they supported the “guided creativity” the students took part in. They also believed that the evening was beneficial.
The items sold created almost £500, with £240 going toward the SOS children’s charity. The rest will be used for the school’s materials and resources in Product Design lessons.
