Anthony Gell School Haitian Appeal
Students, staff and parents associated with Anthony Gell School responded magnificently to the Haitian Appeal by raising £904 in just three days. Cake stalls, a raffle and bucket collections were some of the activities planned by students to help raise the money.
Mr Baker, head teacher of Anthony Gell, commented ‘The response was outstanding. Once parents got to hear of the fund-raising they very generously got involved. The sum raised far exceeded expectations and shows how keen local people and students are to help those affected by the earthquake disaster.’
The money raised was donated to the Wirksworth Rotary Club Aquabox project. Alison Green, one of the co-ordinators of ‘Aquabox’, commented ‘The money will help to provide at least ten families with an ‘Aquabox’ which ensures they get pure water and other basic essentials.’
